Canada Watch House Welcomes Balmain Swiss Watches
Many in the watch-collecting hobby know Swatch Group as a horological powerhouse carrying some of the most prolific watch brands; Omega, Blancpain, Longines, Rado, Breguet and Swatch, just to name a few. However, there is a brand under the Swatch umbrella often unspoken of sharing the same level of fine Swiss craftsmanship and elegance. The brand in question is Balmain Swiss Watches.
Balmain began as the brainchild of fashion designer Pierre Balmain. His expertise in creating beautiful evening gowns and simple tailored suits would be the inspiration for the aesthetic of his timepieces, creating watches which feature elegant and graceful lines. In the 1980s, Pierre's designs caught the eye of Swatch Group owner Nicolas G. Hayek, engaging the purchase of an exclusive license for Pierre Balmain watches to be produced in Switzerland in 1987. In December 1995, Swatch Group became the full Pierre Balmain watch brand owner.
Balmain is now based in the “Watch Valley” of Switzerland, Saint-Imier, in the Bernese Jura–a region known to have generations of citizens with watchmaking heritage flowing through their veins. One of Balmain’s distinct aesthetic traits is the “arabesque” dial, which pulls inspiration
from the embroidery that lines the haute couture dresses created by Pierre Balmain, which translates into a watch design beautifully.
All Balmain watches wear their “Swiss Made” labels with pride, as they’re put through the same thorough quality control tests as all Swiss timepieces to ensure the best quality possible; stainless steel, gold, or diamond crusted, each watch goes through rigorous testing to bring you true Swiss craftsmanship and quality. We’re proud to carry Balmain watches here at Canada Watch House, and you can check them out for yourself here.
