The NEW Seiko SSK023 & SSK025

When the words tool and watch are combined, the brand that comes to mind for many is Seiko. The Japanese brand has been creating some of the best tool watches available for decades while maintaining an excellent price for the amount of watch you get. Over the last couple of years, Seiko has been dabbling in some new designs and designs inspired by other watches and putting the Seiko spin on them. 

In February, Seiko unveiled two new models, SSK023 and SSK025, to complement its already extensive Seiko 5 catalogue. Not only Seiko's take on the “Explorer” style of watch but also another addition of a GMT, which is always welcomed. Seiko chose a slightly smaller case size: a 39mm stainless steel case (13.6mm thick, 47.9mm lug-to-lug) paired with a 20mm stainless steel “multi-link” bracelet. The SSK025 features a 39mm black hard-coated stainless steel case paired with a gorgeous black calfskin nato to add to the sleek and stealthy aesthetic. 

While the case and bracelet options differ between SSK023 and SSK025, the dial and internal components are identical. Both watches feature a matte black dial with applied numerals coated in LumiBrite lume for a bright glow, making the numerals visible in darker lighting conditions, a 24-hour bezel insert and a bright red GMT hand as a pop of colour. The SSK023 and SSK025 feature the reliable Seiko Calibre 4R34 GMT movement.
